Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Kenny Jackett believes that he can "point his new club in the right direction" after back-to-back relegations.

Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Kenny Jackett has admitted that it is important his new club "hit the ground running" when they begin their League One campaign.

Wolves will play in the third tier of English football next season after suffering back-to-back relegations, and Jackett has insisted that his new team must remain consistent throughout the season if they are to earn a return to the Championship.

The 51-year-old told the Express & Star: "I think with the structure around me here, I can point the club in the right direction and work very hard to make sure we hit the ground running.

"There is no doubt about it – our aim is to get promotion this season. Is that going to be easy? No. Does there need to be some adjustment? Of course – the games come at you thick and fast in this league so you need to be fit.

"There's no point playing well once every three games, you need to be able to put in performances on a Saturday and a Tuesday all the way through the season."

Jackett was appointed as the club's head coach last month after previously resigning from his role at Millwall.
