Jamie O'Hara tells Dean Saunders: 'Start me'

Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Jamie O'Hara urges manager Dean Saunders to give him a role in the team from the start.

Jamie O'Hara has expressed his frustration at lack of starting action under new Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Dean Saunders.

Since Saunders took charge at Molineux earlier this month, he has preferred to select Karl Henry and David Davis in the centre of midfield ahead of O'Hara.

The Welsh boss recently explained his decision by admitting that he views that duo as being "team players".

Reflecting on his manager's point of view, O'Hara has insisted that he is more than willing to put in a shift for the good of the team.

"The manager picks the team but personally I disagree. I think I put in a great shift for the team. I think I work hard and am a team player," he told the Express & Star. "I read what the gaffer said before the Sheffield Wednesday game and a lot of people phoned me and I was a little bit disappointed, because I see myself as a team player.

"He doesn't know me yet and, hopefully, over the next few weeks I can be more involved. I was disappointed not to start on Saturday.

"I have made mistakes defensively in the past but everyone does and I think I put in a great shift for the team."

O'Hara recently returned to action following a nine-month spell on the sidelines with a hernia problem.
