Brighton & Hove Albion continued their impressive start to the 2023-24 Premier League campaign by winning 4-1 away to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday afternoon.

The Seagulls also beat Luton Town by the same scoreline last weekend, and Roberto De Zerbi's side now sit top of the table, boasting six points from their opening two matches.

Solly March netted twice for Brighton, while Kaoru Mitoma and Pervis Estupinan were also on the scoresheet during a dominant performance, with Wolves, who had Matheus Nunes sent off late on, losing for the second time this season following their 1-0 defeat at Manchester United last week.

Wolves had the ball in the back of the Brighton net in the third minute, with Fabio Silva converting from close range after a shot from Mario Lemina had deflected into his path, but the offside flag was raised.

It was Brighton that made the breakthrough in the 11th minute, though, and it was a stunning individual goal from Mitoma, who danced his way past the Wolves defence before slipping the ball into the back of the net.

Mitoma had a chance to double the away side's lead in the 18th minute, but his header was straight at Jose Sa, with Wolves finding it difficult to contain the Seagulls.

The hosts did have the chance to level in the 29th minute when Matheus Cunha, who was excellent at Man United on Monday, played a clever pass into Silva, but Brighton goalkeeper Jason Steele did brilliantly to clever the danger.

Julio Enciso then missed the crossbar down the other end, before Pedro Neto fired over the Brighton goal, with both sides having their moments in the latter stages of the first period.

Rayan Ait-Nouri then had the final chance of the opening half, with the Wolves full-back firing wide of the target after Cunha had found his teammate with a pass.

Brighton scored their second just 41 seconds into the second period, with Estupinan converting into the back of the net from close range after a smart pass from Mitoma, who collected the ball following a blocked shot from Danny Welbeck.

The Seagulls then made it 3-0 in the 51st minute, with March smashing the ball into the back of the net from close range after excellent work from Enciso.

Wolves were falling apart, and it became four for Brighton in the 55th minute, with Enciso again setting up March for his second of the match during a disastrous spell for the home side.

The hosts managed to give their fans something to cheer in the 61st minute, with Hwang Hee-chan heading a Pablo Sarabia corner into the back of the net from close range.

Neto had a shot deflected behind in the 75th minute of the contest, with Wolves looking to give Brighton a late scare, while Adam Webster was forced to deal with a dangerous cross from Cunha, but the home side again struggled with poor output in the final third.

A very tough afternoon ended on a disappointing note for Wolves, as they were reduced to 10 men when Nunes was sent off for a push on Estupinan.

Brighton will be aiming to make it three wins in a row at the start of the new season when they host West Ham United next Saturday, while Wolves will return to winning ways against Everton on the same afternoon. body check tags ::
