Brighton & Hove Albion fail to break down 10-man Wolverhampton Wanderers after Conor Coady earns a red card at Molineux.

Brighton & Hove Albion have had their lead at the top of the Championship cut to three points after they drew 0-0 with 10-man Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Kenny Jackett's side had Conor Coady sent off early in the second half at Molineux, but the Seagulls were unable to take advantage.

James Henry came closest to an early breakthrough for the hosts after a cagey opening from both sides when the midfielder took aim at the Brighton goal, but failed to test David Stockdale.

Chris Hughton's men were awarded a penalty midway through the half when Scott Golbourne brought down Jamie Murphy.

However, Tomer Hemed was unable to convert the spot kick as his effort was kept out by Emiliano Martinez.

The forward tried to make amends for his penalty miss as he got away from the Wolves backline after an inch-perfect pass from Liam Rosenior, but he was again thwarted by Martinez.

Instead, Wolves almost snatched a half-time lead after Adam Le Fondre took aim at the Brighton goal, only to see his strike cleared off the line by Hemed.

However, Wanderers suffered a setback early in the second period when Coady was red-carded after he caught Rosenior with his studs.

Albion pressed for a winner, with Rosenior himself going close as he struck the side-netting after getting onto the end of Bruno's cross.

Benik Afobe then dragged a volley well wide of the target, but the visitors had a late chance as Beram Kayal's drive from 25 yards flew narrowly off-target.

However, both sides were forced to settle for a draw that leaves Wolves in 18th place.
