Football's governing body FIFA is reportedly planning to host the 2022 World Cup in November.
FIFA president Sepp Blatter will ask for the tournament, which will be held in Qatar, to be moved to winter as temperatures can reach up to 50°C there during the summer.
According to Kicker, the initial plan was to move the tournament back to January, but Blatter will now request it to be shifted to later in the year.
The plans have been backed by Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, despite the fact that it would cause disruption to all the major European leagues.
Premier League chief Richard Scudamore said on Thursday that he was worried about the proposal.
"Of course one is worried. We're not silly. We can see that that's the way the momentum is shifting," he said.
The 27 executive committee members are expected to vote on the matter at their next conference in October.
