Fulham are through to the second round of the League Cup thanks to a narrow win away at Wycombe Wanderers.
Ross McCormack almost put Fulham ahead early on, but his shot from inside the box flew inches wide as the Championship side made a confident start.
Joe Jacobsen had the hosts' first chance of the game with a volley from 30 yards which went over the bar, while Garry Thompson missed from close range after Anthony Stewart's knock-down fell for him in the box.
Fulham thought that they had taken the lead five minutes before the break when Alex Kacaniklic found the top corner with a thumping strike, but it was ruled out for offside.
However, the Swede broke the deadlock in the second half as he collected Ben Pringle's pass and fired past the keeper.
Substitute Matt Smith came close to finishing the game as he rose to meet Pringle's corner, but his header drifted marginally wide.
Wycombe pushed for a late leveller but ran out of time, as Fulham held on to win.
