Carl Winchester's 44th-minute goal has put playoff-chasing Oldham Athletic on course for a win at League One bottom side Yeovil Town.
The hosts, who started the game four points adrift at the foot of the table, almost found an early breakthrough when Sam Foley's shot from the edge of the box went wide of Jake Kean's left-hand post.
Oldham struggled to contain Yeovil in the opening 20 minutes as Adam Morgan's effort needed a block by the Latics' defence before Fulham loanee Stephen Arthueworrey's header was off target.
Kieffer Moore then fired narrowly wide for the Somerset outfit as they continued to press for a breakthrough.
Gozie Ugwu headed wide and Arthurworrey had two efforts saved by Kean as Yeovil dominated proceedings, but could not turn their advantage into a lead.
The defender was again presented with a chance to put Yeovil ahead before half time, but managed to miss the target from a few yards out.
Oldham punished the home side's profligacy in front of goal when Winchester fired the Latics ahead with 60 seconds of the half remaining.
