A brace from Ishmael Miller fired Yeovil Town to a vital victory over Sheffield Wednesday in their Championship clash at Huish Park this afternoon.
The home side stared the game well and could have taken the lead when Ruben Palazuelos spread a pass to Tom Lawrence on the edge of the area, but his effort went just wide of the target.
Gary Johnson's side thought they had taken the lead when James Hayter flicked the ball into the path of Miller, who found the net but was flagged offside.
Wednesday keeper Damian Martinez was then forced into action to deny a shot from Duane Holes to keep the scores level.
However, just before the break the home side took the lead when Martinez was unable to stop a low Miller effort from finding the net.
After half time, Yeovil doubled their advantage and it was Miller again with the goal as he picked up the ball down the left and curled an effort from 20 yards out into the top corner beating Martinez.
The home side thought they should have had a penalty when Lawrence went down in the area under the challenge of Sam Hutchinson, but the referee waved play on.
Yeovil saw out the game comfortably and picked up three vital points in their fight against the drop in the Championship relegation battle, while Wednesday were reduced to 10 men as Hutchinson saw red in the 90th minute.
