York City have announced the appointment of new manager Nigel Worthington following the dismissal of Gary Mills.
The League Two outfit parted ways with their former boss two days ago following a run of 11 games without a victory, which has dropped them to 18th in the table.
The club released a statement on their official website saying: "The decision to appoint Nigel was based on his solid Football League experience, his strong coaching ability and his extensive knowledge of players throughout the leagues."
The ex-Norwich City manager spent four years as Ireland boss until 2011.
