Ferrari racer Fernando Alonso has expressed his happiness after winning the Spanish Grand Prix in his home country on Sunday.
Having started fifth on the grid, the Spaniard put in a near faultless drive to earn victory in Barcelona for the third time in his career.
Despite achieving the win in previous years, Alonso insists that triumphing in front of his home nation never loses its special feeling.
"It is fantastic," Alonso told BBC Sport. "Winning at home is always like you did it for the first time. It is the third time for me but each time is always different, like a new experience.
"The supporters will have a smile for one afternoon, one night, and it is not the easiest time for the country at the moment, so I'm happy for them and thanks to them for the support."
Alonso sits third in the drivers' rankings.
