New Force India driver Sergio Perez has admitted that he is in "favour" of the new double points ruling for the final race of the Formula 1 calendar in 2014.
The FIA announced on Monday that the points system will be restructured in order to provide competition towards the closing stages of the season.
Red Bull have dominated the last four years by scooping up the constructors' championship, while Sebastian Vettel, who has slammed the new ruling, won the drivers' championship for a fourth consecutive time in this year's campaign.
"It's an interesting one," Perez told Sky Sports News. "I'm in favour, I think it will change things. It will make things very exciting. It can go in your favour, it can go against it - let's see how things go. It will put a lot of interest into the end of the championships."
Perez will be driving for Force India next season after the F1 team announced this afternoon that he will take a seat alongside Nico Hulkenberg.
