John Booth says that Manor Marussia are "very close" to returning to Formula 1 by the season-opening Australian Grand Prix.

John Booth, the man leading Manor Marussia's bid to return to Formula 1, has revealed that the team are "very close" to racing at the season-opening Australian Grand Prix.

The constructor has been included on the entry list for the 2015 campaign, but Booth has admitted that they still face a tough task to complete a return to the grid.

He is quoted by the Yorkshire Post as saying: "We are very close to getting to Melbourne, everyone's working round the clock to make it.

"The cars are coming together well and we are working out of several centres, so I'm confident we will get there.

"We are back at Dinnington and we're also using a base at Silverstone. The aim is to get everything ready by the end of next week."

In recent weeks, Manor has received verbal backing from both Red Bull and Williams in their efforts to return to the F1 grid.

The team has also agreed a deal for Ferrari to supply their engines.
