Formula 1 bosses have reportedly held "constructive" discussions with Honda regarding potential changes to engine rules.
The Japanese company, who have teamed up with McLaren ahead of the new season, have questioned the rules regarding in-season engine development.
Mercedes, Renault and Ferrari were given the green light to make alterations during the season, while Honda have not been given permission to do so.
An FIA spokesman told BBC Sport that the meetings in Japan "went well".
The new campaign will begin on March 15 at the Australian Grand Prix.
