Jenson Button is confident in McClaren's ability after back-to-back victories.

Jenson Button has insisted that the McLaren team are getting back to their best after recent triumphs.

While the 31-year-old claimed his second victory of the season in Hungary last weekend, his McLaren teammate Lewis Hamilton came first in Germany.

The British racer, who was named the world champion in 2009, believes that McLaren can be contenders for all their upcoming races.

"Our race pace was very strong, but I don't think there was much between us, Ferrari and Red Bull," Button told his official website.

"We've won three of the last five races and each of our major rivals has won just one apiece during that time, so we're doing something right.

"To win with Lewis in Germany and me in Hungary proves that McLaren is pushing, developing and challenging the cars around us with genuine pace in the car."

Red Bull racer Sebastian Vettel currently tops the leader board with 100 points, while Button sits in fifth with eight races remaining.

"I'm 100 points behind Sebastian, so that's going to be challenging - but we like a challenge,” he added.

"I never give up, so let's see what happens. I'll take each race as it comes and then look at the points at the end of the year."

McLaren have won three of their last five races.
