Tiger Woods ready to end Major drought

Tiger Woods says that he is in the perfect position to win the Masters.

World number one Tiger Woods believes that he is in the perfect position to end his four-year Major drought at the Masters this week.

The 37-year-old, who has not won a Major since 2008, is the favourite to pick up his first green jacket since 2005, having climbed back to the top of the world rankings following three wins this year.

Woods, who fell as low as 58 in the rankings in 2011, feels that he has put all the trouble of his private life behind him and is focused on passing Jack Nicklaus's record of 18 Major titles.

"I feel very balanced," Woods told BBC Sport. "I feel comfortable with every aspect of my game. I feel that I've improved and I've got more consistent, and hopefully I can continue it this week and the rest of the year.

"We have very expansive careers and I feel like I'm basically right in the middle of mine. It took Jack a while to get to 18, all the way until he was 46 years old.

"I have a lot of good years ahead of me and I'm excited about this week."

Woods tied for 40th at last year's competition.
