Davis Love III has tied the course record at the Palm Beach Gardens course in Florida to take a first-round lead in the Honda Classic.
The American Ryder Cup captain hit a six-under 64 which included a hole-in-one on the fifth to give him a lead of two shots after the first day's play.
Love's round included three consecutive birdies on the front nine to give himself breathing space heading into Friday's round.
The closest challengers to Love's lead are British duo Rory McIlroy and Justin Rose, who both recorded rounds of 66 along with a number of others.
Rose recovered from an early setback to hit an eagle and four birdies while McIlroy carried his recent good form into the first day's play in Florida.
McIlroy needs a win at the Honda Classic to overtake Luke Donald as world number one.
