South Africa's Trevor Fisher Jnr has said that his first European Tour triumph had "been a long time coming" after claiming victory at the Africa Open.

The 35-year-old, who has nine Sunshine Tour titles to his name, broke his European Tour duck with a five-stroke victory on home turf in East London.

Speaking afterwards, Fisher Jnr said: "I can't believe it. It's been a long time coming. I've been a pro for a long time.

"I played well. It's always a bit nerve-wracking leading, you always try not to think about the result but I think I did a good job today of staying in the moment.

"I was nervous the last few holes but I think that's natural. It was a great day, I played well, everything worked out well and the putter was amazing."

Fisher Jnr finished five ahead of England's Matt Ford, who led after the first and second rounds.
