Ryan Palmer leads the Crowne Plaza Invitational by one shot after carding the joint-lowest round of the tournament's 67-year history.

Ryan Palmer has shot the joint-lowest opening round in the 67-year history of the Crowne Plaza Invitational to lead by one shot in Texas.

The 36-year-old, who is a member at the Colonial Country Club, signed for a bogey-free 62 to finish the day on eight-under par.

A dropped shot at the 12th ultimately meant that John Rollins finished the day on seven-under, while Morgan Hoffman, David Hearn, Graham DeLaet and John Peterson are all one shot further back.

Matt Kuchar is among six players on five-under-par.
