English pair Lee Westwood and Justin Rose got off to winning starts at the World Golf Finals this afternoon.
Westwood overcome the challenge of American Webb Simpson in Istanbul by just one shot.
The players had been level until Westwood chipped in at the 17th to take the lead.
"I played a great shot there even though I did not have too good a lie," said Westwood. "The ball was sitting down where TV cables had been but it just came out perfect."
His fellow countryman Rose won through by fours shot against Hunter Mahan.
The duo were both part of the European squad that retained the Ryder Cup at the expense of their American counterparts a fortnight ago.
The final round of Group Two matches will be played tomorrow.
