Jon Rahm has emerged as a serious doubt for next week's US Open due to injury.

The two-time major champion is currently participating in his first season with LIV Golf having left the PGA Tour earlier in the year.

Despite failing to win on one of his seven appearances, Rahm can be satisfied with his performances, finishing between third and 10th in each event.

However, the Spaniard has been forced to withdraw from the current event in Houston, casting doubt over whether he will play at Pinehurst Resort next week.

Rahm suffers foot injury

Rahm had been on three-under-par after six holes of his second round when he made the decision to pull out of the event in Texas.

The former world number one is said to have suffered a cut between two of his toes and that has since become infected.

Rather than attempt to conclude the tournament, which finishes on Sunday, Rahm has instead opted to turn his attention to trying to recover for the third major of the year.

His performances at the Masters and US PGA Championship were below par, the 29-year-old having only finished in 45th position at Augusta before missing the cut at Valhalla.

Since turning professional, Rahm's most consistent major performances have been on US Open courses, with victory coming in 2021 and his lowest-ever placing being 23rd. body check tags ::
