Diego Maradona has revealed that he is "fine" after being seen by a doctor during Argentina's dramatic 2-1 win over Nigeria at the 2018 World Cup on Tuesday night.
Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo scored a late winner for the South Americans, who squeezed into the knockout round of the competition despite only winning one of their three group matches at this summer's tournament.
Maradona was seen by medical staff at the interval of the World Cup match having complained of neck pain, but the Argentina legend has now eased concerns over his health.
"I want to tell everyone that I am fine," Maradona posted on his official Instagram page. "I was checked by a doctor and he recommended me to go home before the second half, but I wanted to stay because we were risking it all.
"How could I leave? I send a kiss to everyone, thanks for the support!"
Maradona was seen celebrating wildly when Rojo netted Argentina's second of the night, but has denied reports that he was taken to hospital after the match.
