The father of Chelsea captain John Terry has reportedly told a court that he cannot afford the £340 fee for a lawyer.
Ted Terry has been forced to represent himself in a trial where he is accused of racially-aggravated common assault in relation to an incident near London's Fenchurch Street station in March.
It is understood that Ted, whose son is said to be earning £150,000 a week at Chelsea, told the court that he cannot afford to hire a lawyer, according to The Sun.
Last month, the 59-year-old pleaded guilty to common assault, but has denied that it was racially aggravated.
