England left-back Leighton Baines has revealed that former The Smiths frontman Morrissey offered his support to the national team ahead of the World Cup in Brazil.
The Three Lions will get their campaign underway with a Group D clash against Italy in Manaus on Saturday.
Before the team travelled to Brazil, Baines spoke to the musician, who was staying in the Mandarin Oriental hotel in Miami during England's tournament preparations.
"I knew he had played in Miami that week so I had a chat with him and he wished us good luck," ITV Sport quotes Baines as saying.
"I was a bit nervous about speaking to him because I didn't know how it would be received. I don't know if he knew who I was. I don't know if anyone else other than Gary Neville knew who he was."
England will also face Uruguay and Costa Rica in Group D.
