BBC commentator Jonathan Pearce tries to clarify his confusion surrounding goal-line technology following his gaffe during France's victory over Honduras.

BBC commentator Jonathan Pearce has attempted to clarify his confusion in relation to goal-line technology following his gaffe at the World Cup in Brazil.

Pearce was widely mocked on Twitter for his reaction to Karim Benzema's goal, which was awarded with the use of GLT, during France's 3-0 win over Honduras on Sunday.

Benzema's effort bounced off the far post before hitting goalkeeper Noel Valladares and falling close to the line before the shot-stopper grabbed the ball in his hands.

The referee awarded the goal with the use of GLT, but replays of a 'no goal' when the ball hit the post and 'goal' when it crossed the line appeared to confuse Pearce during his commentary.

Now, Pearce has taken to Twitter to explain that the version of events that were displayed to television sets back in the UK were different to what was shown in the stadium.

He tweeted: "You didn't see everything that happened back at home on Tv. Was I confused by GLT goal? Yes. So were world feed commentator, both managers and fifa by their own admission due to stadium fault.

"3 assistant ref runs towards half way. So does ref. Goal given. GLT graphic in stadium shows goal. You didn't see that TV shot. 4. Then no goal graphic comes up. Crowd goes mad. Honduras surround ref who comes to delegate to ask for clarification. You didn't see that.

"5 then GLT graphic says goal even though grpahic bears no resemblance to actual ball position close to line."

Meanwhile, France are preparing to face Switzerland on Friday.
