Iran's Football Federation have banned their players from taking selfies with female fans during the Asia Cup.
Women are not permitted to attend men's football matches in Iran and are under strict dress code in their home country, but the laws do not apply in Australia, where the tournament is being held.
As a result, many female fans have been spotted on social media wearing summer clothes, but the Iranian officials have stepped in to warn the players that they face punishment if they pose for photos with women supporters.
"Players are not allowed to pose for selfies with female fans," ITV News quotes head of the federation Ali Akbar Mohamedzade as saying.
"[The female fans] may later use these photos for political ransom against our country or sue the players for harassment. If the players refuse to act according to our clear instructions then we will be left with no option but to deal with them."
Images of women at the tournament dressed in "inappropriate" clothing have been censored by Iran's coverage.
