Leeds United will go on a post-season tour of Myanmar despite a military offensive going on in the country.

Leeds United will head to Myanmar on a post-season tour despite a military offensive taking place in the country.

Travel warnings are in place for the territory but the club will play friendly matches in areas not covered by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office's (FCO) guidance, reports BBC Sport.

Leeds will play two games in the country next month, against a Myanmar National League All-Star team in Yangon and the country's national team in Mandalay.

The FCO has warned that there is a possibility of terrorist activity in parts of Myanmar, while the United Nations claims that there is ethnic cleansing going on in the northern Rakhine province.

"Myanmar is one of the fastest growing nations in South East Asia and is passionate about English football," Leeds managing director Angus Kinnear is quoted as saying.

"They have ambitious goals for grassroots and elite football development that we are delighted to be able to support. This tour gives us an opportunity to meet new fans of football who will hopefully support our journey back to the Premier League in the coming years."

Leeds's social media accounts have urged supporters to wait for official travel advice before booking a trip to follow the team.
