A banner supporting all-female Russian rock band Pussy Riot displayed in the Manchester City end of the Etihad Stadium last night was removed by stewards.
The band were convicted of hooliganism motivated by religious hatred in February last year following a protest challenging the authority of President Vladimir Putin and the Russian Orthodox Church.
Reports have emerged recently claiming that one of the three members Nadezhda Tolokonnikova has been moved to a jail in Siberia.
A 'Free Pussy Riot' banner was displayed during last night's 5-2 City victory over CSKA Moscow in the Champions League, but stewards swiftly removed it, according to 101greatgoals.com.
The band were arrested in 2012 after they performed a 'punk prayer' called 'Holy Shit' from the altar of Moscow's Christ the Saviour Cathedral.
