Sergio Aguero: 'Excessively tight seat belt reason for rib injury'

Manchester City and Argentina striker Sergio Aguero believes that an excessively tight seat belt was to blame for a broken rib in September's car crash in Amsterdam.

Sergio Aguero has claimed that an excessively tight seat belt was to blame for his broken rib in September.

The 29-year-old was involved in a car accident six weeks ago after attending a concert in Amsterdam as his taxi hit a pillar on its way to the airport.

Aguero broke a rib in the accident and was ruled out for a total of four matches for Manchester City and Argentina.

"We took a cab at the hotel, and five minutes later, the driver was doing this weird maneuver. I was with a friend and said to him, 'I'll fasten my seat belt just in case'. But I just couldn't do it since it was sort of hidden," Aguero is quoted by Goal.com as saying.

"It was too tight, and I think that was the reason why I had my rib injured. I knew I had something going on because it hurt quite badly. I asked the doctor, 'Can I get there by Saturday?' And he did this funny face. I asked him, 'Would it be next week?' And he denied it. That's when I said, 'I want to kill myself.'"

Without Aguero, the Albiceleste claimed a goalless draw draw against Peru on October 5 before sealing a World Cup berth with a 3-1 win over Ecuador in their final qualifier.
