Jamie Carragher has admitted that he had "never envisaged playing for Sir Alex Ferguson" before the UNICEF charity match at Old Trafford.
The former Liverpool defender has taken up an invitation from David Beckham to play for Great Britain and Ireland against a Rest of the World side, but said that the thought of being managed by his former nemesis is something that he could not have predicted.
"I never envisaged playing for Sir Alex Ferguson, but nor did I think that I would end up working with Gary Neville at Sky!" Carragher told the Daily Mail.
"It just goes to show that you should never predict the future, but there is one thing that I am willing to predict - I spent years going to Old Trafford with Liverpool knowing we would never get a penalty but, with Sir Alex back in the technical area, I'm pretty sure we will get one now!"
Carragher is not the only former Liverpool player in the GB and Ireland team, as Peter Crouch, Michael Owen, Gary McAllister and David James have also been included in the squad, while the likes of Zinedine Zidane and Ronaldinho will line up for the Rest of the World.
