Former Manchester United midfielder Paddy Crerand believes that creating a 'singing section' at Old Trafford is a "great idea".
The Premier League champions will trial the new section in tonight's Champions League clash against Real Sociedad.
Over 1,000 United fans will be placed in the stand normally used for away supporters in a bid to boost the atmosphere at the ground.
"It's interesting that the club and the fans are trialling a singing section in the area where the away fans are usually making lots of noise," Crerand wrote in the United Review.
"It's a great idea. We've got the best away fans in the country and if we can replicate that at Old Trafford it'll be brilliant. So, hopefully we'll get an even louder atmosphere than normal tonight."
The initiative was pushed through by numerous fan groups.
