Manchester United have begun work to improve their Carrington training ground following a demand from new manager Louis van Gaal.
The former Netherlands coach reportedly demanded that the club replace the pitches with the same semi-synthetic turf that was installed at Old Trafford last summer.
According to The Telegraph, executive vice chairman Ed Woodward has authorised the improvements, which got underway this morning when two training pitches were ripped up.
It is expected that the new turf will be ready to use in six weeks.
