Twitter has revealed that the four-time Ballon d'Or winner's strike in Barca's 3-0 victory at Camp Nou in May sparked a record 25,300 tweets per minute.
Second in the list was Arsenal's FA Cup quarter-final 2-1 win over Manchester United, which was mentioned in 7,700 tweets a minute.
Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard also made the top five, as his sending-off 45 seconds into his side's match against arch rivals Manchester United last season generated the third most tweeted-about sporting moment in 2015.
Tyson Fury's dethroning of Wladimir Klitschko as heavyweight boxing champion was fourth in the list, while Wayne Rooney's equaliser for United against Arsenal in their FA Cup clash was fifth.
