Manchester United have reportedly stopped allowing relatives of Sir Matt Busby entry to the directors' box, while also removing a gold name plaque from his old seat.

Manchester United have stopped allowing Sir Matt busby's family entry to the directors' box at Old Trafford on matchdays, according to a report.

It is claimed by The Sun that the Red Devils have also removed a gold name plaque from his old seat, which had remained in place for the past two decades since his death.

Busby's son and and daughter are no longer alive, but it is understood that his seven granddaughters still attend games at the Theatre of Dreams.

A source is quoted by the newspaper as saying: "When Sir Alex Ferguson was here he was keen to make Sir Matt's son, daughter and seven granddaughters part of modern-day United.

"But in recent years the Busby legacy seems to have faded. The powers that be said it's time the club 'moved on' and it has started with the removal of the tickets in the directors' box for four family members.

"It hasn't gone down well. They called the family about the plaque and said 'We can stick it in the post if you want?' United play on being the family club with all this history but this kind of treatment is callous."

The club has since denied the story, claiming that tickets and hospitality are still provided to Busby's relatives.
