Newcastle United have cancelled a fans' forum just 24 hours before it was scheduled to take place.
The meeting would allow fans to pose questions directly to the senior board members of the Premier League side, but the club have reversed their decision while refusing to comment on the reason why.
The reversal comes days after supporters demonstrated outside one of owner Mike Ashley's Sports Direct stores in the city centre before the weekend's 2-1 defeat to Chelsea at St James' Park.
Ashley has received masses of criticism from Newcastle fans after the Magpies continued to rein in their transfer spending this summer, leaving manager Rafael Benitez frustrated.
The 53-year-old's club sit 16th in the Premier League table, picking up just one point in their opening three games.
