Paralympic cyclist Jon-Allan Butterworth has joined up with the 'Band of Brothers' to take part in the charity Hero Ride for British soldiers.

The campaign is aiming to raise £2m by getting members of the public to cycle from London's Blackheath through the city's famous landmarks in June.

"I've seen first hand how funding raised for Help for Heroes can change people's lives and Hero Ride provides an opportunity for the British public to get behind our troops while also challenging themselves to do something different," the Daily Mail quotes Butterworth as saying.

"Despite the landscape changing for our troops as we withdraw from Afghanistan, the support for this great cause cannot stop. It would a fantastic show of solidarity for as many people as possible to get involved with Hero Ride, whether they are participating, fundraising or lining the streets of London in June."

Butterworth, who won a silver medal at the London Paralympic Games, was injured when serving in Iraq in 2007.
