Former Premier League footballer Clarke Carlisle has revealed that he and wife Gemma have separated after 14 years of marriage.
The 35-year-old has moved out of the family home in order to focus on his battle with depression following a recent suicide attempt.
The ex-PFA chairman spent six weeks in hospital after jumping in front of a lorry on the A64 in Yorkshire four months ago.
In an interview on talkSPORT, Carlisle said: "At this point, Gemma and I have separated. I have moved out of the marital home because I have to focus on my wellbeing and equally as much Gemma has to do the same. She has to deal with her experiences and the effect that has had on her."
The couple have three children together.
