Transsexual boxing promoter Kellie Maloney has admitted that she was scared that her daughters would reject her when she decided to live as a woman.

Maloney, who was born as Frank, decided a year ago to change her gender and raised awareness by going into the Celebrity Big Brother house in the summer.

Maloney has revealed that since leaving the show, she has bonded with her daughters - Sophie, 19, and 13-year-old Libby, who have both accepted that their father is now a woman.

"They had not really met Kellie," Maloney told The Mirror. "Every time I had seen them until then I had still been Frank as much as I possibly could, although at the same time I was going through hormone treatment.

"I was so frightened of losing them. If they had turned their backs on me and never wanted another thing to do with me I had to be prepared to lose them."

The 61-year-old is believed to be in the process of gender reassignment.
