The medical team caring for Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher have reportedly denied claims that the sportsman's treatment was needlessly delayed following his skiing accident.
The German suffered serious head injuries when he smashed into a rock while skiing off-piste in the French Alps on December 29.
There were claims that the seven-time champion's injuries could have grown worse because a rescue helicopter made a stopover at a hospital in Moutiers before heading to Grenoble.
However, according to the Irish Independent, Schumacher's medical team have told German magazine Stern that the stopover was made in order to stabilise the sportsman, which helped save his life.
The 45-year-old, who has been in a medically-induced coma since the accident, has been showing moments of consciousness in hospital.
