Saracens chief executive Ed Griffiths says that the fans were "impeccable" during a minute's silence in respect of the late Baroness Thatcher.

Saracens chief executive Ed Griffiths has expressed his gratitude towards the fans for observing a minute's silence for the late Baroness Thatcher.

The Aviva Premiership outfit were the first sports club to announce that they would pay their respects to the former Prime Minister, who passed away last Monday from a stroke.

The club held a minute's silence ahead of their 47-17 win over Worcester Warriors on Sunday.

"It was a question of showing respect, not a question of politics," the Daily Mail quotes Griffiths as saying.

"In sport, we can suffer from the tyranny of the message boards, half a dozen people can create an impression that can cause a division.

It was impeccable. We have a good crowd and a lot of football clubs would like a crowd like that."

The Allianz Park in Hendon is close to Thatcher's former constituency Finchley.
