Spartak Moscow players and fans have come together to raise money for a 102-year-old fan whose life savings were stolen from him.
Otto Fischer travelled 1,500km to attend the Russian side's derby game against Dinamo recently, but during his trip, $8,000 was swiped from his home.
According to Russia Today, a fan group of the club raised awareness of Fischer's situation, which has prompted contributions, some of which will reportedly come from Spartak's gate from their next home fixture.
"I am very glad to get this help," Fischer is quoted as saying. "I bow my head to everyone who helped me in this situation. If I get another opportunity to see another game, I certainly will with great pleasure. We have a saying, 'it is better to see something once than to hear about it one hundred times'."
Spartak player Vyacheslav Krotov recently presented the money raised so far to the 102-year-old on a TV show.
