Villarreal defender Ruben Semedo has been found guilty by a Spanish court of assault, robbery, illegal detention and illegal possession of firearms.
The 23-year-old was arrested on suspicion of the numerous charges earlier this week, having allegedly tied up and beat a man in his home.
Semedo has now been remanded in custody pending an ongoing trial, with the alleged victim telling a judge that he was threatened with a gun during the kidnap ordeal.
Police seized a firearm at the scene that is believed to have been used in the incident near Valencia, which has been linked to a dispute over money.
Former Portugal Under-21s international Semedo has also been accused of threatening to cut off his alleged victim's finger, while beating him with a baseball bat and shooting two bullets, neither of which hit the individual.
