Goretzka update: Man United 'suffer blow' in pursuit of Bayern midfielder
Bayern Munich director of sport Max Eberl has branded Leon Goretzka "an important part of the team", with the German giants working to keep hold of the central midfielder.
There is currently a host of speculation surrounding Goretzka's future, with Manchester United believed to be determined to sign the Germany international during the January transfer window.
Red Devils head coach Ruben Amorim is thought to be keen to bring in a new midfielder in January, and Goretzka has allegedly been identified as a target due to his difficult situation in Munich.
The 29-year-old has found it tough to secure regular starts this term, but he has been named in Bayern's starting side for their last two league matches, providing an assist in Friday's 3-0 success over Augsburg.

Survival boost? Leicester 'join Man United, Arsenal' in race for striker
Leicester City are reportedly interested in signing Brighton & Hove Albion striker Evan Ferguson in January.
The 20-year-old has endured a challenging start to the term on the South Coast for the Seagulls, scoring just the single goal across seven top-flight appearances.
That being said, Ferguson has featured just once from the start in the Premier League in 2024-25, playing for only four minutes during the victory at Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon.
The youngster enjoyed a breakthrough term with the Seagulls under Roberto De Zerbi between 2022 and 2023, netting ten goals in 25 first-team appearances.

Postecoglou 'pushing' for Tottenham 'to beat Man United' to England man
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly stepping up their attempts to sign Lille attacker Angel Gomes, with the North London club potentially getting a deal done during the January transfer window.
Gomes's contract with Lille is due to expire next summer, and there is currently a host of speculation surrounding his future, with a number of clubs said to be interested in the England international.
Manchester United are believed to be firmly in the running for Gomes, who represented the Red Devils between 2006 and 2020 before leaving for Lille, with the attacker finding it difficult to make the breakthrough into the first team.
However, according to GIVEMESPORT, Tottenham are determined to land the 24-year-old, with Spurs head coach Ange Postecoglou hopeful that a deal could be agreed in January.

Battle lines are drawn: Man United, Man City 'to fight' for Sporting star
Manchester United and Manchester City will reportedly go head-to-head for the signature of Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres during next summer's transfer window.
Gyokeres, 26, has been in red-hot form for the Green and Whites during the 2024-25 campaign, scoring 24 goals and registering four assists in 19 appearances in all competitions.
The centre-forward has also scored nine times for Sweden this season, including four against Azerbaijan last time out, and he is expected to leave Sporting for big money at the end of the current campaign.
Man United are said to be in a strong position for the striker following the arrival of Ruben Amorim from Sporting as their new head coach, but Man City have also been heavily linked with the Swede.

"I took it badly": Sarr hits back at Pochettino jibe at Chelsea
Former Chelsea defender Malang Sarr has admitted that he was affected by comments made by Mauricio Pochettino during his time at Stamford Bridge.
Sarr's largely forgettable stint at Chelsea came to an end in the summer when he moved to Lens on a free transfer.
However, that move only came about after a season in the wilderness at the Blues, the versatile defender not making a single outing during Pochettino's solitary year at the helm.
The Argentine failing to use Sarr in a single game did not necessarily come as a surprise after he famously questioned who Sarr was during one of his early press conferences.

Newcastle 'join Arsenal and Liverpool' in battle for attacker
Newcastle United are reportedly contemplating whether to enter the race for PSV Eindhoven winger Johan Bakayoko.
The Magpies endured somewhat of a frustrating summer transfer window as they failed to add an experienced attacker to their senior ranks.
Nevertheless, after a period where they successfully avoided any sanctions for breaching the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability regulations, Newcastle have since made a positive impact in the top flight.
Victories over Arsenal and Nottingham Forest before the international break have left the North-East outfit sitting in eighth place in the Premier League table with a game in hand.

Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal 'learn asking price' for Brighton forward Ferguson
Brighton & Hove Albion have reportedly reached a decision over the asking price of Evan Ferguson.
The likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal have all been frequently linked with the Republic of Ireland international over the past 18 months.
That is a consequence of the forward bursting onto the scene in the Premier League before the age of 18 on the back of a transfer from Bohemians.
With Brighton agreeing a contract with the now-20-year-old until 2029, a move away from the Amex Stadium once appeared unlikely.

Arsenal 'make decision' over January Jorginho sale amid Besiktas interest
Arsenal have reportedly reached a decision over how to handle the future of Jorginho in the January transfer window.
When the midfielder departed Chelsea for the Emirates Stadium in January 2023, there was an air of uncertainty over whether he would prove to be a valuable addition.
In making 35 starts and 25 substitute outings in all competitions, the 32-year-old can claim to have justified his £12m transfer fee at a time when Mikel Arteta has not always had a fully-fit squad at his disposal.
The most recent of the aforementioned starts came as recently as Saturday afternoon as the Gunners recorded a 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.

Out of this world: Arsenal to make 'astronomical' bid for Serie A star?
Arsenal could reportedly table an 'astronomical' offer to sign AC Milan and Netherlands midfielder Tijjani Reijnders next summer.
The 26-year-old has supposedly caught the eye of a handful of Premier League teams thanks to his displays in Serie A, including all of Manchester City, Liverpool - whose current boss Arne Slot managed Reijnders at AZ Alkmaar - and Tottenham Hotspur.
Reijnders has been responsible for eight goals and seven assists in 65 games for the Rossoneri since joining in a €20.5m (£17m) transfer in 2023, including four goals and three assists from 15 outings this term.
The Netherlands international was one of the scorers in Milan's astonishing 3-1 win over Champions League holders Real Madrid earlier this month, and his contract at San Siro runs for another four years.

Throw him to the Lions? Zirkzee 'has five escape routes' from Man Utd
Manchester United striker Joshua Zirkzee has supposedly been offered the chance to continue in the Premier League with Aston Villa should he depart the Red Devils next year.
Old Trafford chiefs are said to harbour serious concerns about the former Bayern Munich protege, who has failed to live up to expectations since his £35.3m arrival from Bologna in the summer.
Zirkzee made the perfect start to life in Manchester, netting the winner in the Red Devils' 1-0 victory over Fulham on the first matchday of the 2024-25 Premier League season, but he has now gone 16 games without finding the back of the net.
The 23-year-old has also mustered just two assists during that dry spell and has not started a Premier League game since September, being restricted to five substitute appearances over the past several weeks.

Ruben rejected: Man United's 'unsuccessful feeler' for Real Madrid star revealed
Manchester United have supposedly seen an approach to sign a highly-rated Real Madrid midfielder rejected by the player himself.
Funds at Old Trafford are expected to be limited for the January transfer window, but Ruben Amorim should be given a healthy budget to mould the squad into his own vision during the summer of 2025.
A new midfielder is likely to be near the top of the Portuguese's agenda, as both Casemiro and Christian Eriksen are likely to leave; the former has even been linked with a shock return to Real Madrid amid their current defensive crisis.
Neither man is expected to play a key role in Amorim's midfield for the remainder of the season, though, as the consensus is that Manuel Ugarte and Kobbie Mainoo will be the first-choice pairing in his 3-4-3 setup.
