Castleford Tigers have made it five consecutive wins in Super League thanks to a 34-20 triumph over Widnes Vikings at The Jungle.
The hosts got off to a storming start as Luke Gale converted two Denny Solomona tries inside the opening 14 minutes.
Gale kicked between the posts again on 26 minutes when he added the extras to Jake Webster's score, but Widnes got off the mark soon after as Jack Owens went over.
The visitors reduced the deficit even further with five minutes left in the half when Owens converted Chris Clarkson's try, though their joy was short-lived as Gale kicked over Matt Cook's score to give the Tigers a 24-10 lead at the break.
Gale's accuracy with the boot continued six minutes into the second half as he converted after Justin Carney touched down, only for scores from Tom Gilmore and Macgraff Leuluai to set up a nervy final 10 minutes for the home side.
However, Castleford responded defiantly through Solomona, who secured his hat-trick late on to claim the spoils for the hosts.
