Nick Youngquest runs in three tries to help Castleford Tigers defeat Widnes Vikings at the PROBIZ Coliseum.

Five tries after the restart helped Castleford Tigers to record a 36-12 victory over visiting Widnes Vikings at the PROBIZ Coliseum this afternoon.

Hosting Tigers claimed an 11th-minute lead when Brett Ferres went over for his seventh try of the Super League season.

However, their advantage lasted just six minutes as Paddy Flynn scored a try for the Vikings, before Rhys Hanbury converted the resultant drop goal to open up a 6-4 lead for the away side.

Tigers ensured that it would be them who took the lead into the break though as Daryl Clark put the ball down between the posts. The resultant goal was scored by the boot of Danny Orr.

Hanbury kept the Vikings in contention with a 40th-minute drop goal just before the whistle.

The second half was dominated by the Tigers, who opened an unassailable lead thanks to three tries from Nick Youngquest and a further effort from Clark. Jordan Thompson also got in on the act with a try of his own.

Orr added to the tally further with another goal, while Craig Huby and Josh Griffin also scored with the boot.

There was still time for Vikings to claim a consolation try when Stefan Marsh avoided his marker in the 79th minute to race clear of the home defence and go over the line.

The defeat has left Widnes bottom of the Super League table.
