Steve McNamara "frustrated" by England loss

England coach Steve McNamara admits that he is "frustrated" by his side's narrow defeat to New Zealand in the Four Nations.

Steve McNamara has admitted that he is "frustrated" by England's defeat to New Zealand in the Four Nations in Dunedin earlier today.

Both sides scored three tries in the match, but two of England's conversions struck the goalpost, leaving them just short of their opponents' score.

The coach told BBC Sport: "We are frustrated, it was a fingernail last week and a width of the goalpost this week. We have been involved in three tremendous Test matches. They're a young group and to apply themselves the way they have done.

"We are still in it with a chance of making the final but today was desperately close. New Zealand are a really good team and hit us with a couple of sucker punches. Both teams were out on their feet at the end, there was nothing left. Credit to both countries and we will come back stronger from this."

England must hope that Samoa can narrowly beat Australia in order for them to avoid elimination from the tournament.
