Huddersfield Giants chairman Ken Davy has apologised to the club's fans after last night's disastrous 52-6 defeat at 12th-placed Castleford Tigers.

Davy is frustrated at the defeat and the Giants' slump since May, when they led the Super League table.

"We are all bitterly disappointed with the performance and I want to apologise personally to the supporters of Huddersfield Giants," Davy told the Huddersfield Examiner.

"To have fallen away over the last six weeks or so has been incredibly frustrating for everyone, and I don't believe a team that was doing as well as it was can become a bad team in just a few weeks.

"Unfortunately, however, results like the one at Castleford do nothing to improve the confidence of anyone connected with the club, so I would like to reiterate my personal apology for this kind of performance."

Huddersfield are now seventh in the Super League.
