Leeds Rhinos coach Brian McDermott has admitted that he is 'concerned' by Zak Hardaker's withdrawal from England's Rugby League World Cup squad.
It was confirmed on Monday that the 22-year-old Leeds back would not be playing any further part in the tournament due to "personal issues".
McDermott is now eager to find out why Hardaker has pulled out of the England camp.
"I've had a brief chat with him to arrange a quick meeting," he told BBC Sport.
"I haven't spoken to him about what's happened yet but it is clearly concerning. We need to find out what has gone on."
Hardaker was not selected by England coach Steve McNamara for either of the team's opening two matches of the competition.
