Leeds Rhinos beat Catalans Dragons at Headingley to ensure that they finish at the top of the Super League table at the end of the regular season.

Leeds Rhinos will head into the Super 8s in pole position, having defeated Catalans Dragons 36-22 at Headingley.

The Loiners were able to pull away in the second half thanks to tries from Kallum Watkins, Brett Delaney and Tom Briscoe in the space of seven minutes.

Catalans, who held on for a place in the top eight despite the setback, found the whitewash twice in either half but it was not enough to overcome the division's top side.

Huddersfield Giants have secured a top-four spot for the Super 8s, meanwhile, by beating Wakefield Trinity Wildcats 34-24 this afternoon.

Danny Brough successfully converted five tries and crossed over himself in the second half to make sure of the points for a Giants side who have now won five of their last six games.

Wakefield, on the other hand, end the regular campaign bottom of the pile after a dismal run of one win in 21 outings.

Elsewhere, Danny Craven's dramatic last-gasp drop-kick was enough for Widnes Vikings to take maximum points in their clash against Salford Red Devils.

The match at the Select Security Stadium appeared to be heading for a draw, until Craven split the sticks in the final minute of play to see Widnes finish in ninth.

Salford, who were looking to secure home comforts for the middle eights, led 6-12 at the break before Paddy Flynn, Aaron Heremaia and Craven helped turn things around in style to record a 21-20 victory.

In the day's late kickoff at Wheldon Road, Warrington Wolves stormed to a 44-6 triumph over Castleford Tigers in their final regular league outing.

Junior Moors grabbed the only try for the hosts against the side directly below them in the table, but despite the resounding success it was not enough to claim fifth place for Warrington.

Joel Monaghan got the ball rolling seven minutes in for the Wire, while seven others - including Richie Myler late on - also got their names on the scoresheet.

Results in full: Huddersfield Giants 34-24 Wakefield Trinity Wildcats, Leeds Rhinos 36-22 Catalans Dragons, Widnes Vikings 21-20 Salford Red Devils, Castleford Tigers 6-44 Warrington Wolves
