Winger Jermaine McGillvary has committed his future to Huddersfield Giants by signing a new five-year contract with the club.

The 23-year-old, who has run in 20 tries in 30 matches for the Giants, will now remain at the Galpharm Stadium until 2016.

"Jermaine's story is truly remarkable," Giants manager director Richard Thewlis told the club's official website.

"He came into the game relatively late and has worked incredibly hard with us, from being on dual registration to the point today where he is an England Knight and Super League regular.

"A number of clubs are short on English talent and we are aware that many eyes are being cast towards our players so for us to keep a local lad like Jermaine in the claret and gold is wonderful news."

McGillvary joined the Giants in 2008 and had a loan spell with the Batley Bulldogs in 2009.
