St Helens have slipped to fourth in the Super League table after succumbing to a 28-22 defeat at the hands of Huddersfield Giants.
Kyle Amor powered over in the 10th minute for the first of his side's four tries, but Jamie Ellis jinked his way through and Ukuma Ta'ai collected Danny Brough's pass to put the visitors 12-6 ahead.
The hosts then eked themselves back to within two points by the break through James Roby, but Joe Wardle put the Giants eight points clear again after half time.
St Helens came back through Tommy Makinson, who marked his return from a two-month injury absence with a try in the corner, before Mark Percival's clinical offload created a try for Travis Burns.
They could not hold on, however, as Jermaine McGillvary touched down for his 10th try in seven matches and Aaron Murphy strolled over following Wardle's smart pass with 13 minutes left to play.
